"The Risen Jesus sends his disciples to make disciples, not of themselves, but of him. How? By a) initiating all kinds of people into the Trinitarian God through faith in Jesus, immersing them into the reality of the Father, Son and Spirit. And b) forming them into the kind of people who routinely and naturally do all Jesus did and taught. We tend to make converts, Christians, “born-agains”, and we baptise them, but do we make disciplined life-long learners of Jesus, committed to doing whatever it takes to become like Christ? Willard calls this “The Great Omission”: we omit to make disciples as in not teaching and training believers “to obey everything I have commanded you”. What sustainable plan does your church have to train and enable its members to do all that Jesus commanded? Think about it. Seriously. Do you personally have such a plan?"
